Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

The Jefferson County Department of Health’s Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day began in 2019 and is held each April. The event focuses on collecting paint, herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers, and other household materials that are unsafe to dispose of through regular garbage services. By providing a safe disposal option for these materials, the program helps prevent improper dumping, which can contaminate soil, negatively affect water quality, and harm aquatic life in nearby streams.
