JCDH/JCEMA ESTABLISHES CALL CENTER FOR COVID-19 VACCINE
January
5, 2021 Birmingham, AL— The
Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH) and the Jefferson County Emergency
Management Agency (JCEMA), through the Jefferson County Unified Command (JCUC),
has established a new call center to provide information to the public
regarding COVID-19 vaccines and assist with coordinating vaccination efforts
for critical populations in Jefferson County.
Healthcare
entities and pharmacies that receive allotments of vaccine will vaccinate
people in particular phases, according to the Alabama COVID-19 Vaccination Allocation
Plan (revised 12/23/20). This
Allocation Plan was developed by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH)
using guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and
the Advisory Committee of Immunization Practices (ACIP). Currently there is
limited supply of vaccine and doses are continuing to be given to frontline
healthcare workers, emergency medical service (EMS) providers, and residents of
long term care facilities in Alabama (all within Phase 1a). JCDH will inform
the public when it is time to move to the next phase after evaluating whether
enough people have been offered the vaccine in the current phase. Individuals
or organizations needing general information about COVID-19 vaccination in
Alabama may visit www.alabamapublichealth.gov/covid19.
Individuals
or organizations in Jefferson County who believe they are in the current
Allocation Plan phase, and would like more information on how to access
COVID-19 vaccination, can now call the JCUC Call Center at 205-85VACC1 (205-858-2221).
Telephone calls are answered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Language interpreters are available upon request.
